Cardboard Teck is both a design philosophy and a physical space for all ages to enjoy.

This active artist studio is the creative home for Professor Ben t. Matchstick, PinBox 3000 cardboard pinball, after school programs and the Combustible Cabaret variety show.

In 2025, Cardboard Teck celebrates its 20th year of building engaged communities, youth empowerment, and performance in Central Vermont.

    Dungeons & Dragons is back for 2026 at Cardboard Teck! Join DM Ben on an unforgettable adventure with your new heroic friends.

    Will you lurk in the arcane stacks of Candlekeep library? Be lured into the mirages of the Calim desert? Rescue a unicorn from a frost giant’s cooking pot? Choose your quest!

    Ages 11-16

  • Two Day Camp!

    NOVEMBER 24-25:

    You Won a Castle! (levels 1-5) 

    Congratulations, you won a castle! Can you purge it of its monster infestation before the moving trucks arrive?

    All levels. Ages 11-14. 9am-3pm. $150. Bring your own snacks and lunch.

    TUESDAYS:  The Mirage of Karumba 
    (level 4-6)

    Crossing the deserts of Calim reveal secrets of an ancient djinn responsible for dozens of lost caravans.

    $210 per participant

    Six weeks: January 6- February 10 

    Experienced players only. Ages 13 and up.

About Professor Ben t. Matchstick

Professor Ben t. Matchstick is a performing artist working in the mediums of cardboard, games, and stories.

Ben has worked as a youth advocate, librarian, cafe owner, educator, puppeteer, artist, and entrepreneur in Vermont for 20+ years. He is the founder of Cardboard Teck Instantute.

Ben is the co-creator (with Pete Talbot) of the award-winning PinBox 3000 cardboard tabletop pinball machine kit. Ben is the production and media manager and storyteller for the PinBox 3000, which has sold over 25,000 units since its invention in 2015.

Ben co-conceived Hadestown (with Anaïs Mitchell), now on Broadway. Hadestown began in Central Vermont and went on to win 8 Tony awards.

Ben was a traveling company member with Bread & Puppet Theater for 4 years and 8 summers. He a proud member of Generator Maker Space in Burlington Vermont.

He is the artistic director of the Combustible Cabaret.

Ben holds a BA in Theater from Northwestern University, an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Goddard College, and a Vermont teachers license for 7/8 grade English from Champlain College.
